1. Who we are and what this covers
Hypercent Games (also known as Hypercent Studio, “we” or “us”) operates In the Middle of Nowhere, Android package com.hypercentgames.inthemiddleofnowhere. This policy covers the game, including testing and prerelease versions.
For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@hypercentgames.com. Visits to this website are covered separately by our website privacy policy.
2. Progress and settings on your device
The game stores chapter progress, completion records, your last selected chapter, sound and music preferences, and a cached full-game purchase entitlement locally on your device. These records let you continue playing and retain an existing unlock while offline.
There is no Hypercent player account, login, cloud-save service, public profile or chat. The current game does not upload your saved adventures to a Hypercent server. Device or operating-system backups are separate from the game and may retain copies according to your device settings.
The game does not include advertising or custom gameplay analytics. Playing does not require you to enter your name, email address or birthday, or grant access to your contacts, precise location, camera or microphone. Store and SDK processing described below still applies.
3. Store connections and purchases
The first 10 chapters can be played free. An optional one-time, non-consumable purchase unlocks the remaining chapters. The store displays the current price before you confirm; this is not a subscription.
The game uses Unity In-App Purchasing (IAP) 5.4.3 with Google Play billing on Android and Apple billing in Apple-store versions where available. It connects to the native store at startup to load the product and check existing purchases, so purchase-related network activity is not limited to pressing the buy button.
The store handles payment details. Hypercent does not receive your payment-card number or store password. The game and purchase providers process product identifiers, purchase status, transaction identifiers, receipts or purchase tokens, and entitlement information to complete, confirm and restore an unlock. Store services may retain transaction records for accounting, security and fraud prevention.
An eligible purchase can be restored using the same store account. Restoring a purchase restores access, not deleted chapter progress. Purchases are tied to the relevant store and do not transfer between Google Play and Apple.
4. Unity and technical information
Unity’s purchase integration includes purchase-event and diagnostic services. Depending on the platform and active service path, these can process purchase history and outcomes, price and currency, installation or session identifiers, available player or device identifiers, device and operating-system information, language, country or approximate location, and error, crash or performance diagnostics. Network services also receive connection information such as an IP address.
These services support purchase functionality, service analytics, reliability and troubleshooting. Local saves and the absence of a separate gameplay analytics service do not mean that no information leaves the device. The game does not provide a separate in-game control for disabling purchase-service processing.
Unity’s broader IAP service also supports optional authentication, email and external payment integrations. The current game uses native-store billing and does not ask players to provide an email address to a Unity webshop. Provider processing depends on the features used and information available from the platform.
Read Unity’s IAP privacy overview, IAP data-safety information and Privacy Policy.
5. Support, disclosure and service providers
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer questions, investigate problems and handle privacy requests. Please do not send passwords, full payment details or unnecessary sensitive information.
Google and Apple operate their respective stores, and Unity supplies the purchase integration and related services. Our support correspondence uses Cloudflare Email Routing, Google Gmail and Zoho Mail, as explained in our website policy. See the Google Privacy Policy and Apple Privacy Policy for their practices.
We use providers as needed to operate these services and may disclose relevant information where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect people or our rights. We do not sell player support information or local saved progress, or use them for targeted advertising. Providers may process information outside your country, with safeguards where required by applicable law.
6. Retention and deletion
Local progress and preferences remain until overwritten or removed. On Android, open device Settings, select In the Middle of Nowhere under Apps, and clear its storage to erase the local save files and entitlement cache. Uninstalling normally removes local app data, but device backups may retain or restore copies. On Apple devices, deleting the app removes local app data; offloading may retain it.
Clearing storage permanently removes progress from that installation. Hypercent cannot recover saves it does not hold. Clearing storage does not cancel or refund a purchase, and the store may restore an eligible unlock when you reconnect.
We retain support correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the request, maintain necessary records or meet legal obligations. Store and Unity records follow their respective retention requirements, including any financial, security or legally required retention. Uninstalling or clearing storage does not delete those provider records.
To request access, correction or deletion of information held by Hypercent, email hello@hypercentgames.com with “In the Middle of Nowhere privacy request.” Provide only the information needed to identify the relevant record. There is no Hypercent game account to delete. We will coordinate requests for information processed on our behalf; where a provider controls a record independently, we may direct you to its request process. Unity IAP does not provide an in-game self-service deletion tool.
7. Children and caregivers
Players do not need to submit personal contact information to play. Parents and caregivers should supervise store purchases and support correspondence for children. Children should not send us their address, school, photographs or other unnecessary personal information.
The store and SDK handling above can also apply on a device used by a child. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review it, delete it where appropriate and coordinate relevant provider requests. A parent or guardian may contact us on a child’s behalf; we may need to verify their authority.
8. Your rights and security
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal information, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent where applicable, or complain to a data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise applicable rights. Requests may require verification and may be subject to legal exceptions.
We take reasonable steps to protect information we handle, but no device or service is completely secure. Protect your device and store account. Closing or uninstalling the game stops its further activity on that device; it does not erase records already held by providers.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game develops. The date above identifies the latest revision. Material changes to data practices will be explained in an updated notice, with additional notice or consent where required before those changes apply.
