1. Who we are and what this covers
Hypercent Games (also known as Hypercent Studio, “we” or “us”) develops Unscroll for Android, package com.hypercentgames.unscroll. This policy describes the current prerelease app. Unscroll is coming soon; a public download and paid checkout are not available yet.
Unscroll is designed for voluntary adult self-management. It is not parental monitoring, a disability assistance service, or a medical product, and does not diagnose or treat a condition. It does not require a separate Unscroll account.
Contact hello@hypercentgames.com about privacy. Visits to this site are covered by our separate website privacy policy.
2. Information kept on your device
Unscroll stores selected app names and package identifiers, boundary rules, routines, focus timers, preferences, permission and disclosure choices, daily app-usage estimates, and choices made at interventions in app-private Android storage. This information supports the boundaries, routines and summaries you choose. The selected-app inventory and usage history are not uploaded to Hypercent.
Usage summaries and intervention history are retained locally for up to 90 days. Temporary package and time records used to subtract the protection overlay from usage are bounded to eight days. Your rules and preferences remain until changed or deleted. Insights depend on available Android usage records and may be incomplete.
3. Optional Android access
The app picker reads launchable apps so you can select the apps you want to protect. Optional Usage Access reads Android usage events to calculate selected-app summaries and limits.
Optional Accessibility access observes app identities and window or interaction events to display boundaries you configured, including while another app is visible. Unscroll does not read event text, inspect screen nodes, capture screenshots, record keystrokes, read messages, inject gestures, or autonomously operate another app.
Android requires a broad screen-content capability declaration for interactive-window change events. Unscroll uses window identifiers, window types, focus and active flags, and app identities to resume protection after system panels close. It does not retrieve screen nodes, root content or text. The in-app disclosure explains the difference between Android’s broad capability wording and the limited information used, before you choose whether to enable the service.
The service displays a protection overlay, manages temporary allowances you choose, and uses the Home action only when you choose to leave. You can disable protection, revoke access in Android settings, or uninstall at any time. Protection depends on Android permissions and device-maker behavior and cannot continue after force-stop, removal of access or uninstall.
Focus timers and reset activities can be used without these special accesses. Optional notification permission allows completion alerts. Declining it does not disable the timer or app protection.
4. Google Play purchases and billing data
Full Unlock is a planned one-time Google Play purchase. The app is not publicly released, and production purchase testing is still in progress. Downloads and checkout are not available through this website.
The selected release design uses Google Play Billing directly, with no separate Hypercent purchase backend. Google processes payment through your Google account; Unscroll does not receive your payment-card details. The app checks Google’s signed purchase record locally, acknowledges purchases through Play and restores access through Play. Production purchase testing is still pending before release.
Purchase records and billing responses are exchanged with Google Play to provide the unlock and restoration. This design does not upload selected-app lists, usage history, boundary rules, focus records, messages or reflections to Hypercent. There is no separate Unscroll account or cloud history synchronization.
The included Google Play Billing SDK and its supporting transport process operational billing diagnostics. In the intended billing-enabled integration, billing connects when the app opens, so SDK diagnostics are automatic and are not limited to people who buy Full Unlock. They can include billing setup, operation, error and response information; app package and version; library version; a generated billing-client correlation identifier; Android version and device model, brand, manufacturer, build and memory information; language and region settings; timestamps; and network type or operator information. Receiving Google services also process network metadata such as IP addresses. The exact fields available vary by device and SDK behavior. This is distinct from uploading your screen-time history.
Google handles payment, store and SDK records under its own policies. This policy does not promise that billing diagnostics are anonymous, immediately deleted, or kept for a particular period. Read Google’s Privacy Policy and Android’s guidance on app and SDK data use. You may need to use Google’s privacy and purchase-support processes for records it controls.
The app stores the purchase token, original signed purchase record, signature, verification time and acknowledgement state in encrypted app-private storage protected by Android Keystore. It rechecks the saved signature when loading the record. This cache supports offline access and remains while needed to remember the unlock, separately from usage-history retention. Purchase records are excluded from usage exports and automatic Android backup.
New purchases and restoration after reinstalling or clearing app data require Google Play and an internet connection. Pending payments do not unlock paid features. Temporary failures or an empty purchase query do not erase a previously verified local unlock. The app checks purchase state on opening, resuming or selecting Restore purchase; it cannot immediately detect refunds or process purchase completion while closed. A cached unlock can remain after a refund. Google controls payment records, refunds and purchase policies.
5. Complimentary access
If Hypercent Games gives you a complimentary code, the Upgrade screen lets you redeem it for free access to the same Full Unlock features. Redemption is optional and requires no payment, account or internet connection. The code is checked on your device and is not sent to Hypercent Games or Google Play.
The app retains only a versioned complimentary-access grant marker in encrypted app-private storage protected by Android Keystore and excluded from backup. The submitted code is not stored in that record, included in usage exports or written to diagnostic logs.
Complimentary access has no expiry. If you uninstall or clear Android app storage, enter your code again. Google Play’s Restore purchase action restores purchases, not complimentary grants. Keep your code private: anyone with a valid reusable code can redeem it.
6. Export, deletion and backup
You can initiate a JSON export through Android’s file picker. An export contains selected apps, rules, usage and intervention history, but no purchase tokens or payment credentials. You choose its destination. If you choose a cloud storage provider or later share the file, that provider or recipient handles the copy under its own practices.
Delete local data removes app history, rules, preferences and temporary usage-accounting records and turns protection off. Saved purchase and complimentary-access records are separate so your unlock can remain available. Clearing Unscroll’s storage in Android Settings or uninstalling removes its local app data and access records. You can then restore an eligible purchase through the purchasing Google account or enter your complimentary code again. Local deletion does not erase exported files or Google’s records, or refund a purchase. Those records and copies must be handled separately.
Automatic Android backup is disabled for Unscroll app data. There is no account-based history synchronization. Hypercent cannot recover local history it does not hold.
7. Support, providers and disclosures
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you provide. We use them to answer you, troubleshoot the issue and handle privacy requests.
